Laser printer cartridges can be very confusing. Repeatedly we are asked, “What is the best laser printer for me?” It’s a tricky question to answer, because it all depends on what you intend to do with your laser printer. There are many different types of ink printer cartridges.Whether you desire a high quality printer, an all-in-one workhorse, a pocket-sized photo printer, or a simple single-function inkjet, we’ve got you covered. What is your budget? Also, don’t forget that the purchase price isn’t the sole cost you will have. There is the cost of the replacement photo printer cartridges. We have reviewd four unique printers for you. This will supply you with a starting point. If you’re interested in individual categories, printers cartridges or products, you will at least possess a base level of information with which to start.

HP Officejet Pro 8500- The HP Officejet Pro 8500 wireless printer is an inkjet that can handle an office job with a high quantity of printing needs. With various networking options, a function touch screen and an exceedingly fast print speed, this is one inkjet printer that most definitely deserves consideration.

Canon Pixma MX7600-The Canon Pixma MX7600 is a multifunctional printer and this model is a enormous improvement over the last one. In addition to new features such as an upgraded control cockpit, auto duplexer and a large number of faxing alternatives, the MX7600 is a fantastically decent value.

Konica Minolta 5400DL-Color laser printers that offer options like duplexing and are network ready are as a rule not very reasonably priced. This printer is the exception. The Minolta 5400 DL prints at 27 pages per minute in both color and in black and white. It furthermore handles a wide selection of different media. It has a 2400 dpi resolution for really well-defined images plus it also has automatic color correction. This color laser printer should moreover give you up to 12,000 prints per toner cartridge, and has a massive duty cycle of up to 60,000 prints per month.

Brother HL-5250DN- This Brother printer is network raring to go and promises high-quality graphic and text prints for the small organization or home use. There is a nice element called a duplexer which allows you to conserve paper and the simple to understand setup instructions make putting in place a snap. At 30 pages per minute output for text, the printer’s speed is respectable. There is just one little catch and that is the paper tray. It will merely hold 300 pages which is somewhat small and barely suitable if you are using it for household purpose or running a very small business operation.

  • Budget Cooking for a Crowd

Posted on January 30th, 2010 KPAdmin No comments

At this time of the year, it is quite easy to see how and why preparing food for a huge number of guests is a trend. Indeed, it is in fashion to hold parties wherein the cooking duties are al prepared by the host of the said party. But then again, the problem with such huge parties is the food preparation itself. Is food preparation something that should cost us too much? Ideally, this should not be the case. But will that be possible? Of course it is. Instead of breaking the bank take a look at these budgets cooking for a crowd tips.

What do you need to know to cut down on the food expenses that will be incurred when you host a huge party for a big crowd? First of all, don’t ask everyone in the group about their food preferences. While this may seem like the courteous thing to do, everyone will want to offer a suggestion or opinion causing a lot of trouble on your part. Instead, vary your menu so that it includes a few vegetarian selections along with something that most people like to eat. For example, serving a large roast beef with a roasted endive salad will accommodate most people. The next thing to think about is the actual size of the group at hand, and whether or not there will be any kids present.

Kids used to be easy to please. Many years ago, you could offer a child a plate of macaroni and cheese, and watch as they gobbled it up. Today, for some reason, kids are a lot pickier than they used to be. So, what do you do? Whatever you do, do not contact each parent asking about a child’s favorite food. Instead, make a large dish of some kid-friendly meal and then make a smaller portion of something else on the side. You can opt to use spaghetti or chicken for this purpose since kids are usually fond of these simple dishes.

The only thing you need to do when budget cooking for a crowd is to plan ahead. Planning ahead will help you to get things done easier and faster than it would be of there were no plans made prior to the event itself. Planning ahead will also be beneficial in anticipating the things that are needed to be done and the plans will have lesser chances of backfiring if plans were made ahead of time.

Another thing that you should do is to be on the lookout for caterers and party stuff suppliers who charge their clients inexpensively. This will help you in planning ahead. Remember, planning ahead does not only mean that you should think of the menu. Rather, it also means that you should have some important contact persons and point persons for a specific task that is to be conducted for the party. That way, you can be ensured of a successful party and a less hassling party preparation experience for yourself as well.

See how easy budget cooking for a crowd can be? Just make the right decisions and plan ahead. Then you’re ready to start your party for a huge crowd.

  • Learning Home Made Wine Making

Posted on January 30th, 2010 KPAdmin No comments

The process of learning wine making is really not all that difficult. You just have to be willing to put a bit of time and effort into it and you should come out with some really great results. You may even find that you have a passion for winemaking and it may end up becoming one of your favorite hobbies.

    How to Make Wine

If you want to learn how to make wine, then the first thing you are going to have to do is to gather together the ingredients and tools that you are going to need. You will need at least one Demijohn, which are glass containers that are usually about one gallon. You will need a bung, and an airlock, as well as a large container that you can use to hold the fruit mix.

You will need plastic tubing as well, which you will use to transfer the wine from the sediment into another container, and finally you will need wine bottles, a measuring jug, scales, a hydrometer, thermometer, funnel, and large containers of about 5.5 gallons each. Also in the process of learning how to make wine you need to understand that winemaking in general can basically be broken down into five steps which are as follows: plan, monitor, process, age, and finish. Winemaking requires you to make many decisions, and so make sure that you are aware of this and that you are going to have the patience that is required in this craft.

It is important to remember that each wine recipe tends to differ, especially between fruit wines and flower or grain wines. You will need to find out the specific directions from the particular recipe that you use, in order to ensure your wine turns out as best as possible. When making wine there are many different types of fruits that you can use then add a personalized label to each bottle. You may also want to note the dates that you made each bottle of wine, as aged wine always tastes better and so you can drink the older bottles first.

Not As Hard As Some May Think

The process for making making homemade wine is not as complicated as some may believe. Of course, it is not entirely easy either. It does require skill and patience as this is a hobby that is not one that can be performed haphazardly. (Well, you could perform it haphazardly but the taste of the wine will probably be awful!) But, if you dedicate the proper amount of time and effort to making the wine then you will end up with not only some great tasting wine but also having enjoyed quite a bit of fun doing it as well.

  • You Can Enjoy Creating And Eating A Turtle Cheesecake From Your House Or Apartment

Posted on January 30th, 2010 KPAdmin No comments

If you like chocolate, pecans and caramel then you will definitely love a turtle cheesecake. This is a great type of cheesecake that is very scrumptious and sweet. In fact you can even make one of these delicious cheesecakes yourself. Here is a process you can use to make your very own turtle cheesecake.

While you’re at it, you may want to make two.  Enjoy one yourself and freeze the other as a gift.  Cheesecake is a great gift idea.

To start with making a turtle cheesecake you will need to get a cup of pecans prepared. The pecans should be chopped up properly to where they will be able to fill up the cup. These pecans will need to be placed in an oven set to 350 degrees Fahrenheit for six minutes. After this is done you will need to melt some unsalted butter. Be sure to use six tablespoons of this butter when preparing your turtle cheesecake.

The next step involves getting vanilla wafers to be ground up. Two cups of these crumbled wafers will be needed. After this is done you can mix the crumbles with your melted butter and put it into the bottom of a nine inch springform pan. You should place the pan over a cookie sheet and heat it for ten minutes. Like with the pecans this should be cooked in an oven at 350 degrees.

For the caramel flavor you will need to gather fourteen ounces of caramel candies and melt them. You will need to melt the caramel candies in five ounces of evaporated milk. After you get this melted you will need to get the combination stirred and poured over the crust that you have just formed. When this is done you will need to sprinkle the pecans you toasted earlier on top of the cheesecake.

The next parts of preparation involve getting cream cheese and chocolate chips prepared. Twenty-four ounces of cream cheese should be added to the recipe. You also need half a cup of white sugar and one and a half teaspoons of vanilla extract.

Two eggs will be needed in the next step. Once the eggs have been mixed in you can melt some chocolate chips. You will need half a cup of these chips in order to make a proper cheesecake.

The last part deals with getting your turtle cheesecake properly baked. The mixture will go into your pan to be cooked for forty minutes at 350 degrees. After you take it out you will need to keep it in a refrigerator overnight.  The next day it is ready to thoroughly enjoy.

  • Cooking Bok Choy

Posted on January 29th, 2010 KPAdmin No comments

Bok choy, otherwise known as bok choy, paak choi, Chinese chard cabbage and Chinese mustard cabbage is a vegetable that resembles celery although it is actually a member of the cabbage family. It has thick, white stalks and dark green leaves that have a round shape.

When purchasing bok choy, select stalks that are pure white and firm. Additionally, look for leaves that are dark green and non-wilted. Do not select bok choy that has any brown spots on its leaves, as this type of bok choy is less flavorful. Baby bok choy, which is a younger version of bok choy, should also be purchased according to these standards. Once purchased, you can safely store bok choy in your home for up to three days provided that you refrigerate the bok choy in a plastic bag as soon as you arrive home with your purchase.

Because bok choy is a member of the cabbage family, you can cook it as you would a cabbage. When cooked, it has a sweet flavor and its stalks are firm. Baby bok choy is best when cooked whole and used as a side dish to a meat entrée. However, when cooking mature bok choy, do not cook it whole. Instead, first remove its leaves from their stalks and cut the stalks into pieces. Next, take the leaves that were removed and cut them into pieces as well. Both bok choy’s stalks and leaves are edible. Common uses for mature bok choy include steaming or boiling it then adding seasoning

Cooking with bok choy is actually very easy, though many people never attempt to cook it. Since there is no right or wrong way to prepare this vegetable, any of the following methods will work.

This may be the most versatile vegetable on the plant, since you can boil, steam, stir-fry, and even deep-fry it. Cooking with bok choy only requires that you have selected ones that are healthy. In order to get it ready for any dish, remove the leaves from the stalks, rinse them both, and then cut the leaves in any manner. One of the best ways to cook this vegetable is inside of a wok, though it may require a bit of your attention.

Cooking bok choy will provide you with a meal that is packed with lots of nutrients (including fiber and iron) that are needed to live a healthy lifestyle. Follow the tips listed above and you will soon find that this vegetable is worth preparing numerous times.

  • Cooking for Fun

Posted on January 29th, 2010 KPAdmin No comments

Why do we cook? There are tons of reasons that can be seen, reasons that contribute to the factors why we cook. Or rather, why we make an effort to learn how to cook. Some cook because they want to impress, some cook because they find cooking an indispensable tool in ensuring their own health. Meanwhile, there are also those who try to learn much about cooking because they find cooking quite an enjoyable activity.

For as long as we can remember, cooking has been perceived as some sort of a domestic duty. Indeed, we often see mothers preparing food for their families. The media has also perceived this in a negative light by portraying some mothers to do this duty begrudgingly, as if they have no other choice but to prepare food for the family. In our mind’s eye, we believe that cooking is being taken up for various purposes but no matter what purpose it serves us at the moment, we should still never fail to remember that cooking is also fun. Our recommendation for those who want to learn to coo well is just for them to enjoy the said activity. Cooking becomes less of a strain; less of a dragging activity, once we learn how to perceive it positively.

Fortunately, somewhere amidst our civilization, people began to see cooking as something more than the animalistic devouring of food. They discovered there were ways to make the meals taste good and the earliest forms of gourmet cooking had begun. Over the centuries, the various subdivisions of cooking started to appear. Somewhere and sometime, people began to bake bread. They discovered the fact that certain spices added to the taste appeal of food. Meals began to separate into time frame orientated divisions like breakfast and dinner and certain cooking forms became associated with certain times.

In spite of all of these, cooking was still a chore performed because if people did not have food to eat, they would get hungry and eventually they would die. There was not a whole lot of excess time for leisure activities, and as leisure day did become available, it was usually devoted to other pursuits. In the recent era, this has changed. As we began to have more leisure time, we made a discovery about cooking. It can be fun.

For those who want to try their luck at cooking, the best advice we can give you is to allow the activity to be enjoyed. Don’t treat cooking as a duty that you are obliged to perform. Also, give yourself the chance to experiment and reinvent certain traditional dishes. Do not be afraid to explore. Do not be afraid to make mistakes as well, because that is part of how you will be able to learn. Those who love cooking take pride in learning form their own mistakes. They would preferably make the fault and would like to mend it all by themselves in the second try. They find thrill in cooking, learning and creating some masterpieces in the end. This is a great avenue to learn.

  • Saving Your Skin With Green Tea

Posted on January 29th, 2010 KPAdmin No comments

Green tea has become the miracle drink of recent years. It is mentioned as a cure for everything from stomach trouble to fatigue, from rheumatoid arthritis to tooth decay. People in the Far East have been turning to green tea for various ailments for centuries, so it isn’t surprising that the beverage has become a popular remedy worldwide.

Green Tea’s Effects More Than Skin-Deep

In the data examined by Katiyar, Ahmad, and Mukhtar, the polyphenolic compounds in green tea were tested and found to provide protection against cancer in mouse skin. In addition, some successful experiments were conducted on human skin in the lab. The analysis conducted by the authors shows that green tea polyphenols have cancer-fighting properties.

Why Green Tea is a Superior Disease-Fighter

Of course, you might be wondering why green tea might be effective against skin cancer, when other types of tea are not. While green, black, and oolong tea are all derived from the Camellia sinensis plant, green tea is processed in a way that helps to preserve its antioxidant nature. That’s because green tea leaves are steamed, preventing their cancer-fighting compounds from being oxidized. As a result, black and oolong teas are not nearly as effective in fighting disease.

Taking a Closer Look at Green Tea

It might be helpful at this point to take a closer look at green tea and its unique properties. Dr. Stephen Hsu, a scientist at the Medical College of Georgia, has done extensive research on green tea and its medicinal effects. Hsu has found that the compounds in green tea known as polyphenols destroy free radicals, which have been known to give rise to cancer because of changes they make in DNA.  Essentially, the polyphenols kill cancer cells, while protecting healthy cells.

    A Green-Tinged Fountain of Youth

As a result of such research, some have referred to green tea as being a veritable mountain of youth for the skin. While additional research is obviously necessary, the initial results are incredibly encouraging. In fact, Hsu has been working on developing skin products in which green tea plays a significant role. In this way, Hsu has found a way to apply his lab work to the cosmetic counter. It appears that green tea is particularly effective in protecting the skin from sun damages major contributing factor to skin cancer.

  • Beginner’s Guide to White Wine

Posted on January 29th, 2010 KPAdmin No comments

For those who are just starting to delve into the wonderful world of wine, you may find yourself confused by the amazing variety of wines – whites, reds, blends, bubblies – and the many, many choices within each of those broad categories. We’ll select just one of those for this brief intro – white wines. We’ll provide a short tour of the most well-known varietals (types of grapes), tell you what you can expect from each and what distinguishes them from each other.

    Chardonnay

Chardonnay is definitely the most enjoyed white wine in the U.S. – in fact, it’s quite commonly the only white wine many wine lovers consume. Chardonnay is commonly the first white wine a beginning wine fan will sample, largely because it is so easy to enjoy. Chardonnay is typically on the dry side, meaning that it’s not very sweet, and it tends  to have flavors of vanilla, apples, tropical fruit, and butter, and degrees of oak, depending on how it was produced. “White Burgundy”, from France, is nearly always all Chardonnay. Many other wine regions across the world produce Chardonnay, among them Australia and Chile. It’s quiteeasy to obtain good choices of American Chardonnay available for under $20. Popularand consistently reliable producers include BV, Chateau St. Michelle, and Columbia Crest, and others.

    Sauvignon Blanc

Sauvignon Blanc, sometimes called Fume Blanc, is another fairly well-known white wine. Sauvignon Blanc is quite often characterized as “freshly mown”, meaning that it reminds the drinker of freshly mown grass. It is a medium-bodied white wine with noticeably fruity aromas like grapefruit, melon, and peach, and is dry and refreshing with medium acidity. Sauvignon Blanc is a wonderful summer wine, especially good with seafood and it’s a perfect match for appetizers and picnics. Babich (New Zealand) makes a very nice Sauvignon Blanc for under 15 dollars.

    Pinot Grigio

Pinot Grigio, also called Pinot Gris (the actual grape name), is Italy’s most popular white wine, and is popular throughout the world, although the Italian Pinot Grigios can be somewhatbland. Pinot Grigios are easy to drink, because they have a crisp, light taste. The Pinot Gris offerings from Oregon tend to have more character, having medium body, with more readily noticeable fruit and more acidity. Better bottles have fruity flavors of pear, apple, honeydew and some spice. Two very nice Pinot Gris from Oregon, available for between $12-$18, are King Estate and Chateau St. Michelle, among others.

    Riesling

Riesling wines are quite possibly the most popular German wine, and they are produced in two extremely different styles – dry and sweet. Rieslings are categorized by the ripeness of the grapes when picked. Kabinett is made fromnormally ripe grapes, and is a light to medium-bodied, mostly dry wine. You’ll sometimesfind the word “trocken” on a bottle of Riesling, which is German for “dry”. “Spatlese” is produced from riper grapes, and results in a bit richer, slightlysweeter, wine. “Auslese”, which means late harvest, is made from even riper grapes, and is typically verysweet. Rieslings are typically fruity, with peach, honeysuckle, and apple tastes and floral undertones. Rieslings are relatively inexpensive – you can find excellent bottles for under $10. One reliably very goodchoice is Strub Niertsteiner Riesling Kabinett, as well asChateau Ste. Michelle Riesling.

    Gewurztraminer

Gewurztraminer is another popularwhite wine from Germany, while also being produced in France, the U.S., Australia, and New Zealand. Gewurztraminer is also availablein both dry and sweet styles. Gewurztraminers have a brazen, full-bodied taste, much more so than most other white wines. Typical aromas associated withGewurztraminer are rosewater and lychee nuts, and its flavors include apricot, honeysuckle, and honey. A nice, inexpensive Gewurztraminer is produced byTrimbach (France, under $15).

    A final note

The best way to find your favoritesin white wine is to just buy a selectionof bottles, and just try them. For each varietal, you’ll want to choose a bottle that’s typical of the style you’re wanting to explore. Websites like Wine.com can help immenselywith finding solid, yet inexpensive choices. Once you find a varietal and producer you like, you might want to pick up a case to have handy for entertaining, or to just enjoy at home. Most white wines don’t improve with aging, so you probably should not keep them around for years. However, you dowant to be careful to store your wine properly, so they retainthe wonderful flavors and aromas you anticipate. You might consider investingin an inexpensive wine cooler, to keep all your wines at their best.

White wines are best served moderately chilled, so you might want to refrigerate them beforehand, then take them outaround 15-20 minutes before serving. Better yet, you might want tobuy a single bottle electric wine chiller, which will chill (or warm) a single wine bottleto the right temperature automatically – just select the pre-programmedwine varietal, insert the bottle, and the chiller will automatically cool (or warm) your wine to the best temperature, and maintain that temperaturethroughout your wine tasting.
